BY USING THE NEUFIT METHOD WE ARE ABLE TO:

1. IDENTIFY

Identify the areas that have underlying nervous system issues that either delay recovery or muscle performance.

2. RESET

Reset the nervous system by using manual therapy and neurological stimulation with the Neubie to change the neurological patterns that are creating dysfunction and quickly re-educate the body to move back to optimal performance or function.

3. BREAKTHROUGH

Breakthrough by working through restrictions using the Neubie Device we can tap into the nervous system to improve range of motion, increase strength and move to a state of more pain-free movement that wasn’t able to be expressed until we re-educated the nervous system.

The nervous system controls every muscle movement in the body. If a movement dysfunction is creating pain, keeping you injured, limiting your mobility or range of motion or restricting performance then Ashley Wiens Fitness and the Neubie Device using the NeuFit Method may be able to help regain the function you are looking for. I have been able to use the NeuFit Method and Neubie Device to help clients recover and reprogram movement through corrective exercise.

Common issues I have helped clients with using the Neubie are:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ankle sprain
  • Shin splints
  • Knee ligament injury
  • Jumper’s knee
  • Hamstring Strain
  • Strained quad or hip flexor
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder impingement
  • UCL Strain (Pitcher’s Arm)
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfer’s Elbow
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Trigger finger
  • Arthritis
  • Swelling and lymphedema
  • Other strained or torn muscles
  • Chronic pain
  • Recovery from orthopedic surgery

After helping clients recover from their initial injury, using the NeuFit Method with the Neubie Device, I will then help my clients return back to their fitness training or sports performance with training using the Neubie Device in the gym. I like to find a sustainable and efficient exercise prescription for my clients to reprogram previous movement dysfunction and over-training patterns through corrective exercise and pain free performance protocols. This combination with the Neubie Device helps my clients achieve faster results and I have found it to be much more efficient and safer than traditional training.

Neubie FAQs

What is the Neubie?

The NEUBIE is a state-of-the-art electrical stimulation device. It stands for “NEURO-BIO-ELECTRIC STIMULATOR,” and can be used for rehabilitation and also sports performance, or those looking to decrease pain, increase range of motion, and  heal faster. When the NEUBIE is applied with other NeuFit protocols, the system delivers new methods of neuromuscular re-education. The nervous system manages all muscle movements.

How does the Neubie Device work with the Neufit Method?

The NeuFit NEUBIE Device is technology that optimizes your nervous system. It uses pulsed, direct-current (DC) electrical stimulation to re-educate the nervous system and energize your body’s ability to repair itself.

How does the NEUBIE electrical stimulation Work?

During the 1st session, we scan the affected body region and find ‘hotspots’ where the muscles and nervous system are not working properly.  Using the NEUBIE electrical stimulation, we apply electrodes to these areas and target specific muscles to make the whole body work better. Exercises are then performed, training muscles to become more pliable and absorb greater force.

Is the NEUBIE the same thing as TENS or Is the Neubie a "TENS" unit?

The NEUBIE is similar to a TENS unit in that it is a type of electrical stimulation, but otherwise they function in completely different ways. The NEUBIE is much more powerful, creating different effects on the body, and can do more things. TENS units use alternating current (AC), while the NEUBIE uses direct current (DC). TENS units temporarily relieve pain, whereas the NEUBIE can relieve pain long term.

How is the Neubie different from traditional E Stim Therapy (aka TENS Unit)?

There are multiple differences between the two but the most important difference is the waveform that is used. The Neubie has a unique waveform that has a neurophysiological effect that is not possible with traditional stim devices. The majority of electrical stimulation devices use alternating current. When these devices are tuned up to higher levels they can negatively affect the clients neuromuscular system causing protective co-contractions that can be detrimental to the overall goal of the treatment. E-stim does have benefits by mechanically helping pump blood and other fluids, but it can cause more problems when it comes to neurological control of movement. Traditional e-stim devices can reinforce dysfunctional movement patterns that can prevent your body from recovering properly, keep you in chronic pain, minimize movement efficiency and reduce mobility of clients. The Neubie device is different because it uses a pulsed direct current so it has the opposite effect on the nervous system. NeuFit has found a way to get direct current into the body using the Neufit Device that doesn’t cause skin burns which was a previous complication with other direct current devices. The Neubie is a new, improved approach to traditional electrical stimulation therapy. It changes traditional methods to help optimize neurological function so clients can heal at faster rates, recover from chronic pain and improve overall strength, range of motion and performance.

Can the NEUBIE be used for Sports Performance and Rehabilitation?

Yes, the NEUBIE can be used for those recovering from an injury or surgery, as well as athletes looking to improve their sports performance.  Exercises are tailored to each client, whether they are professional athletes or those just looking to walk better without pain.

Is the NEUBIE covered by insurance or Medicare?

NEUBIE services are sometimes covered by insurance, depending upon the client’s condition and insurance benefits. For many clients who have FSA or HSA options, our services usually qualify and those accounts can be used.

Can the NEUBIE electrical stimulation help with my injury?

Well, it depends. Fortunately, the NeuFit System is able to help most of the people who use it. Coupled with the NEUBIE device’s ability to re-educate muscles, increase blood flow, improve range of motion, prevent atrophy, decrease spasms, and relieve or manage pain, the NeuFit system has helped many people recover from sports injuries, various traumas, and surgeries. Of course there are times when physical therapy and rehab strategies aren’t indicated, and more serious interventions could be necessary. If something is completely torn, for example, surgery may be the best solution. The good news is that NeuFit is non-invasive and very safe. Because of the low risks, it is often worth trying as a conservative strategy before considering more serious and invasive interventions like surgery and injections.

What do I wear to my first session?

If we are working on your lower body, loose fitting clothing (preferably shorts, athletic shorts, running shorts, spandex, etc) is recommended. If we are working on your upper body then a loose fitting shirt (preferably a cut off shirt, racerback shirt, tank top or sports bra, etc) is preferred. This device needs to be able to touch the affected area on the body, so if you are wearing clothing that covers the area it makes treatment more challenging.

Is the NEUBIE Safe?

The NEUBIE is FDA approved and is safe when used appropriately under the proper conditions. There are a few contraindications, such as pregnancy or a client with pacemaker, where the NEUBIE should not be used.  It is FDA-cleared for neuromuscular re-education, maintaining or increasing range of motion, reducing spasms, increasing blood flow, preventing atrophy, relieving pain, and more.

Does Neubie Device have side effects?

Some individuals have soreness a few days (or DOMS – delayed onset muscle soreness) after using the Neubie which is why we recommend about a week in between sessions at the beginning. As your body becomes used to using the Neubie Device then time between sessions can shorten because you won’t get as sore. We also recommend not doing other treatments or intense workout with those muscle groups for a few days after your session. I highly recommend hydrating well before and after every session (this should be more water than you normally drink). I also recommend eating something before and after your session as well.

Does electrical stimulation with the Neubie device cause rhabdo?

If you’re hydrated, offering appropriate nutritional support to your body, and not overconsuming alcohol, there’s virtually no chance you would get rhabdomyolysis from exercise or treatment with the Neubie device. There is no empirical evidence that NMES devices or electrical impulses alone cause Rhabdo. As with any training program, proper nutrient support (including minerals used by nerves and muscles like calcium, sodium, and potassium) can reduce the risk of adverse effects of intense training (including training with the Neubie device). Persons engaging in highly restrictive diets (keto, high fat low carb, etc.) may require additional nutrition supplementation to support their training with the Neubie device. Though there is evidence that training can be performed safely while on highly restrictive diets, it is highly recommended to consider supplementation to prevent dehydration or electrolyte imbalances.
